Make Every Vote Count

WETV’s documentary production, "Make Every Vote Count" (working title), examines the urban legend that warns that the right of all African Americans to vote will expire in the year 2007.

TRUTH or LIE?

• What if Congress convenes to decide whether or not black people should retain the right to vote, and the extension is not approved?
• What is the history of the Voting Rights Act signed in 1965 by Lyndon B. Johnson?
• Why don’t young African Americans vote?
• Why should African Americans vote?
• What are the benefits of voting?
• What happened to the black vote in the 2000 and 2002 elections?
• How do I get involved?

These questions and more are explored in this 30 minute documentary.

Target Audience: African-Americans 18-60, nationwide, from all economic backgrounds.

The purpose of this project is to educate the black voter about the voting process, the power of collective voting, and ways to become involved in the democratic process.
